THE FIRST PRIMARY SCHOOL IN NORTHERN NIGERIA WAS BUILT ON IGALA LAND

This is Holy Trinity Primary School, Lokoja, Kogi State. This was the first school to be established in Northern Nigeria. It was built by Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther in 1865. It is on Igala land, and the land was given to Ajayi by Attah Igala then. Lokoja land was also leased to the Queen of England (British) for model farming for 100 years before Attah takes it back, according to the agreement in 1841.
