HON. GODDAY SAMUEL RECKONED

 As a pigeon hovers on the edge of the sky,

And the gulls drift slowly up the river,

Vulnerably I ride the wind.

My coast and glide with ease,

The dew is heavy on me like a widow in Ashes.

Party's Cobweb was ready to cut my journey;

Heaven’s ways prevented humans from seeing me fall.

Yet among a thousand sorrows, I stood alone.

In moment of sorrow,

I stood all forlornly like a stranded soldier on the battlefield.

No one could fantom the pain and  suffering I went through.

Afar off where I stood was nothing to behold save the abyss of the cloud.

Until I held to a new morher to wipe my tears.

Then a voice roars from behind:

"Arise!

 Take up the mantle of leadership just like Moses,

And take my people out of Egypt to the promised Land.

Then, my eyes glitter in the sunlight

With my hands on my jaw.

Reminiscent of that day,  lonely I stood;

Like a forbidden swine.

 Nothing goes through my mind except particles of sorrow,

Yet, I turned my eyes against rejection and took up the mantle:

The mantle of LABOUR PARTY.

The certificate of people's choice,

And I became satisfied when the majority rejoiced,

To hoist the flag of freedom of the people,

To march triumphantly to the promised Land

Come 2023.
