Here Are The Four Companies That Imported Contaminated Fuel Into Nigeria!



On February 9, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited named four companies involved in the importation of methanol-laden petrol into Nigeria. The fuel was shipped into Nigeria by MRS on the vessel MT Bow Pioneer. The Emadeb/Hyde/AY Maikifi/Brittania-U Consortium arrived with MT Tom Hilde. Oando loaded the faulty fuel onto the tanker MT Elka Apollon, while Duke Oil lifted it aboard the tanker MT Nord Gainer. The fuel was delivered by the four from the LITASCO Terminal in Antwerp, Belgium.

 

 

This is stated in a statement signed on February 9 by Garba Deen Muhammad, Group General Manager Group Public Affairs Division, NNPC.

 

 

 

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has assured Nigerians of its ability to restore order in the supply and distribution of petroleum products.of quality Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) also known as petrol across the country within a short period.

 

The Chief Executive Officer/ Group Managing Director of NNPC, Mallam Mele Kyari pledged at the end of a meeting with some oil marketers to resolve the issues generated by the recent supply and discharge of methanol blended petrol in some Nigerian depots.

 

Kyari emphasized that defaulting suppliers have been put on notice for corrective actions, and that NNPC is collaborating with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Regulatory Authority (NMDRA) to take the necessary actions in accordance with existing regulations.

 

The NNPC CEO provided a graphic account of the unfortunate incident, stating that on January 20, 2022, the company received a report from its quality inspector on the presence of emulsion particles in PMS cargoes shipped to Nigeria from Antwerp, Belgium
