In Sokoto, the Sokoto Police Command announced the arrest of 37 people in connection with alleged banditry in various sections of the state.
The arrests were made between Jan. 20 and Jan. 29, according to the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Operations, Ahmed Zaki, who spoke at a press conference in Sokoto on Monday.
"The Nigeria Police Operation Sahara Storm located and stormed the bandits' camps in the Illela, Rabah, Isa, and Goronyo Local Government Areas of Sokoto State between January 20 and January 29.
"The police apprehended no fewer than 37 people at various locations throughout the operations, and several exhibits were recovered."
"All of the accused were tied to Turji, the notorious gang leader, and they've all admitted to their involvement." in the crime of banditry.
“However, the investigation into their cases is still in progress and the suspects will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is completed,” he said.
The DIG named some of the suspects as Musa Kamarawa, Abubakar Hashimu, Bammi Kiruwa, Zayyanu Abdullahi, Hardo Yunusa and Samuel Chinedu, among others.
