Hassan Kauye Farawa, the Chairman of Kano State's Kumbotso Local Government Area, has established a security force of 100 vigilantes and hunters to assist security authorities in maintaining the area's security.
The chairman said the council was helping security authorities in providing appropriate security of lives and property during the launching ceremony of the security marshals at a stakeholder meeting on security in the region.
He said that, in order to motivate the marshals, the council has placed each of them on a N20,000 monthly stipend, which will begin this month.
He also stated that the council intends to construct an area command office for the security force.
The mayor also announced a donation of a new vehicle to the Ja'oji Police Division, as well as a contribution of ten motorbikes to a group of persons who would help security agencies gather information in the battle against illegal activities in the local government.
He explained that the council has started paying each marshal a N20,000 monthly stipend this month to encourage them to perform more.
He also mentioned that the security force will have an area command office built by the council.
The council chief also announced the donation of a new vehicle to the Ja'oji Police Division, as well as the distribution of 10 motorcycles to selected citizens to assist security personnel in gathering intelligence in the local government's fight against criminal activity.
