Residents of Abakalki, the Ebonyi State capital, on Thursday stayed indoors following the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
DAILY POST reports that commercial banks were also observed to have removed the Nigerian flags in their premises to avert possible attacks.
The residents totally obeyed the sit-at-home order declared by the leadership of IPOB to honour the arraignment of Kanu in court.
Investigation revealed that both civil and public servants as well as health officers in the state shunned work to honour Kanu.
Our reporter, who moved around the state capital to monitor compliance of citizens to the sit-at-home order, observed that all federal and state roads including major streets in the state capital were deserted.
It was also gathered that schools including primary, secondary and tertiary institutions were totally shut down.
