As a concerned Comrade and a fellow in the struggle, I would love to comment on the echoes of the cries of Benue State University, makurdi BSUM Students.
It is no more news but a thing of reality that the faculty of management science has earlier this week implemented a bedeviling policy of "NO SCHOOL FEES NO LECTURES". A policy which I described as being capable of eliminating the Educational System at the institution due to high number of self sponsored Students.
Judging from the press release by the school management before the resumption, a grace of fourteen days was given to the students after which late registration which attract 5,000 extra charges commences.
We can deduced from above that the non-paid Students can be part of Lectures and other activities in the school pending elapsing of the given period.
I wish to plead with the management to look at the economics downhill of the state as well as the fact that Benue State which is the supposed general overseer of the BSUM has failed in the regular payment of our parents salaries and granting maximum security of life and properties that would enable us go to the farm.
We are aware that the constitution backs up the decision of the management to grant two weeks of registration. But we plead for the management board of BSUM led by erudite PROF. Tor Iorapuu to grant more indulge that would enable indigence Students cope with the financial demands of the institution
As nice and favourable as the policy might seems to the management, the policy is a threat to the Educational pursuit of poor and destitute Students.
Fr. Moses Adasu (founder of BSUM) had a dream of Benue State where a poor child could attain a bachelor degree at a cheap rate. This was the main rationale behind the establishment of this institution. Let this dream not be shattered.
