CMIC Urges SGF Akume, To Facilitates The Confirmation Of Dr Agada Enye As Substantive CMD Of Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi -Barr. Ankeli Echo



The concerned members of Idoma community, In a bid to bolster healthcare services and recognise exemplary have urged the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), His Excellency Dr. George Akume, to facilitate the confirmation of Dr Agada Enye as the substantive Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi, Benue State.


According to the group, under the aegis of Idoma Lawyers in Politics, Dr Enye has proven her mettle during her tenure as the acting Medical Director since her appointment in March.

Barr. Ankeli A. Echo, President, Idoma Lawyers in Politics, in a statement on Sunday, noted that prior to this role, when Dr. Enye served as the Head of Clinical Services, showcasing her expertise and commitment to the healthcare sector, she attracted several impacts that left blue footprint on the sand of time.


Speaking further he said, "We, the undersigned, call on the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), His Excellency Dr. George Akume CON, to utilize his esteemed office in facilitating the confirmation of Dr. Agada Enye as the substantive Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi as all the Federal Medical Centres in Nigeria are directly under the Office of the SGF through the Federal Ministry of Health and only the SGF has the final say on such confirmation.


"However, Dr. Agada Enye has so far demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication as the acting Medical Director of the Medical Centre since March she was appointed in an acting capacity.


"Prior to this role, she served as the Head of Clinical Services, showcasing her expertise and commitment to the well-being of patients and the medical institution.


"We urge His Excellency Dr. George Akume CON, to consider the significance of appointing Dr. Enye as the substantive Chief Medical Director, as this decision would have far-reaching positive implications.


" Furthermore, It would further douse any notion in certain quarters that Dr. Akume does not hold the Idoma people in high regard, especially concerning the absence of an Idoma nominee for ministerial positions.


"Sincerely, We would like to remind Dr. Akume of his commendable record of being good to the Idoma people while in office as the Governor of Benue State. Now, we implore him to uphold that legacy and prove to the Idoma community that he values their contributions and aspirations.


"Dr. Agada Enye’s elevation to the position as substantial Chief Medical Director would not only recognize his exemplary service but also serve as a testament to Dr. Akume’s commitment to promoting capable leaders within the Idoma community. Dr. Enye’s wealth of experience and dedication to the healthcare sector makes her a suitable candidate for this esteemed position.


"We, the undersigned, firmly believe that Dr. Agada Enye’s appointment as the substantive Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi, would be a step towards fostering unity, growth, and progress within the Idoma community, Benue state and the entire nation at large.


"We humbly request His Excellency Dr. George Akume CON to use his good office to facilitate this appointment and solidify his support for the Idoma people, as well as his dedication to ensuring the growth and development of the healthcare sector in Nigeria, he added.


Dr. Agada Enye is a highly accomplished and dedicated medical professional with a passion for improving healthcare services in Nigeria.


She is a Consultant Special Grade I at the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi, where she has been actively involved in providing top-notch medical care and leadership. Dr. Enye’s expertise spans various medical specialties, with a focus on plastic surgery.


As a renowned Plastic Surgeon, had primary and secondary education at St. Andrew Primary School and Wesley High School (respectively) Otukpo, Benue State. She had her MBBS Certification from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State (2004).


Dr. Enye holds the prestigious Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) in Plastic Surgery, a testament to her commitment to continuous professional development and excellence in her field. She has contributed significantly to medical research and academia, presenting papers and attending conferences both locally and internationally.


Dr. Enye’s dedication to healthcare service delivery extends beyond the walls of the medical institution. She has been actively involved in community outreach programs, particularly in the areas of public health awareness, cancer screenings, and conflict resolution.


Throughout her career, Dr. Agada Enye has earned several commendations and awards for her exceptional leadership and contributions to the medical profession.


Notably, she received the “Award for Exemplary Leadership” from the Association of Resident Doctors at the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi (2010).
