At the Federal High court Abuja, court 1 to be precise, the people's Honourable, representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency of Benue State, Hon. Samuel Odagboyi Godday was discharged and acquitted of the two counts charges filed against him before the court by the Inspector General of Police, subject to a petition of certificate forgery and perjury from Ademu Entonu.
Recall that Ademu Entonu, the immediate past House of Representatives Member representing the Constituency who lost the 2019 general elections to Hon. Samuel Godday has dragged his winner to the electoral tribunal, electoral appeal and three different courts including Sharia court on the same matter, all of which Hon. Godday remained victorious.
Delivering judgement in the mid hours of today, Hon. Justice B. Hassan discharged and acquitted the Honourable Member on the grounds of no case submission, noting further that the Reps Member has no case to defend before the law court as the matter at hand needed not to have gone through this trial in the first place; going by the evidences presented and the testimonies of the petitioner (Ademu Entonu) himself as well as having been to different courts of competent jurisdiction.
Indeed, it is victory for democracy and a clear disgruntlement to the abuse of court processes. It is on this note that we therefore enjoin Hon. Ademu Entonu to accept defeat and move on with life outside the green chamber rather than running from pillar to post without a course.
In his remarks, the Honourable Member dedicated the victory to God and the good people of Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency, stating that it is a motivation for him to do more for his people.
The Reps Member rained appreciations on his legal team, lead Chief Godwin Odumu Obla SAN FCIArb of Obla & Co. Chambers for the rigorous efforts in the last three years of unwarranted legal distractions.
Hon. Godday noted further that, to every beginning there's an end and the end of this phase has come; hence, the Reps Member extended hands of fellowship to the opposite side, charging them to positively collaborate with him in the interest of the constituency.
