The Re-birth Of Apc In Benue South

Indeed, there is a time for everything under the sun as the Holy Book rightly put; a time to be born and a time to die, for the All Progressive Congress in the Benue South Senatorial District, 6th of April, 2022 marked a time for a new beginning for the party and her members as major stakeholders and elders of the party met to discuss ways forward for the ruling party in the forthcoming elections.

The meeting which was held at the Abuja residence of Chief Audu Innocent Ogbeh, former Minister of Agriculture had in attendance notable leaders from the senatorial district in the persons of Chief Barr. John Ochoga Gen. Lawrence Onoja (Rtd.), Gen. Chris Abutu Garba (Rtd.), Chief Sylvester Ameh (Ojebo k’Idoma), Chief Steven Lawani, Comr. Daniel Onjeh, Hon. Chief Nelson Alapa, Sen. Ameh Ebute, Chief Godwin Ukpoju, Prof. Amb. Dickson Akoh, Hon. Egojah, Hon. Samuel Godday, Hon. Lady Blessing Onuh, Hon. Evang. David Ogewu, Barr. Mrs. Patricia Kpuchi Iyanya amongst others.

It was a moment of reunion and collective agreement for the house as virtually all speakers hammered on similar keys issues ranging from the peace and unity of the party in the zone, the need for harmonious relationships amongst members, the importance of sacrifices from all and sundry as well as the reconciliation of all aggrieved quarters in the interest of the party.

Speaking in his capacity as the Chairman, elders forum, Chief John Ochoga officially submitted himself to the leadership of Chief Audu Ogbeh who was unanimously adopted by the house as the leader of the party in Zone C. Chief Ogbeh in his new capacity is now the pivotal point for all members of the party in the zone, Ogbeh is expected to work with the elders of the party and other stakeholders in addressing issues affecting the APC in Benue South.

Going by this development, there’s a re-birth of APC in Benue South Senatorial District as members of the party will no longer live like children without father figures, neither will the zone depend on party faithful from other zones to take critical decisions that are peculiar to the zone. This also implies that the generational gap between the older and younger generation will be bridged as party elders will willingly open their arms to the youths who are ready and able to learn from their wealth of wisdom, experiences and moral guidance.

The significance of yesterday’s meeting in the political history of the Idoma and Igede nation is indeed enormous both in the short and longer terms as the occasion marks a new beginning for the political progress of the zone. Party faithful now have better channels for discussions, interactions and negotiations which are the major bedrocks of political organizational success, active participation has been fully activated and generational leadership transfer hitherto lacking amongst the leading class shall become more prominent in the zone.

Indeed, the people of Benue South now have a unanimous voice in the ruling All Progressive Congress which represents a new dawn for more dividends of democracy with a stronger and united power of negotiation with the party and government at the center.
