The word poem is a piece of writing in which the expression of feelings and ideas is given intensity by particular attention to diction (sometimes involving rhyme), rhythm, and imagery.
For example
Only A Dream
I close my eyes
Squeeze them tight,
I feel you everywhere
In the darkness of night.
I love the thought of you
When I am sleeping,
Wrap me in your arms
Stop me from weeping.
Is this a dream, you beside me
holding me so tenderly,
The love you are giving
Kissing, touching so heavenly.
Stay with me darling
Dreams do come true,
Wrap your arms around me
Comfort and love me anew.
I want to taste paradise
so close you’re in my sights,
I see it written in your eyes
Hold me ever so tight.
The dawn of a new day is breaking
Sun sheds light for all to see,
as earth slowly awakes
you are slipping away from me.
Come back, be with me
Please don’t leave me so soon,
I don’t want to wake without you
You are my sun, my life, my moon.
I awake to the sounds of silence
Feeling cold and all alone,
Burying my face in the pillow
Fading memories, now gone.
