POEM: Lets Us Play

 LET'S PLAY KPAN-KPAN-GOLO

Where are Uga, Ifuk and Ikpoko?

Come out, let's play kpan-kpan-golo

Because valentine is coming

Come out let's discuss before it's morning

I want us to play

This play is the only way

To cage our watery hearts

Against Amnon, Absalom and Judas

William told me to be his val

He told me I am his only wall

On which he will lay when to fall

I told him I will give him a call

That same evening

I saw him giggling

With his cronies - in caricature

Imagine that inhumane creature!

He wants to dig me

Like agronomists scoop maize

With bitterleaf love concoctions

And his fetching infatuations

That was how they lured Ogechi

In last year val and sent her to early 'chi'

After she got into family way

Trying to save the shame that day

Let's play kpan-kpan-golo

Before our hearts are created a hole

By joy looters

In the name of "hock up with lovers"

Let's play kpan-kpan-golo on sundeck

It will keep our hands on deck

Away from amorous social gathering

That wanders moral souls weeping

Let's play kpan-kpan-golo

With our hearts to save us from blow

With our eyes to turn us from distraction

Not our legs, for self-control is the only prevention

Let's play kpan-kpan-golo

To ease the fire under our skirts very low

For under these legs are kings born

So let not an hour pleasure our dreams burn
