Some of our Journalists are lazy and do no news research. The lack of research make them ask patronizing questions. If I have the opportunity to interview someone like Samuel Ortom on live TV, I will ask the following questions
1. You embarked on several overseas trips in the last seven years and signed several MOUs with investors and partners. How many of them have come to invest in Benue?.
2. On assumption of office, you decried the depth of corruption under the previous regime and instituted a Judicial Commission of Inquiry which found out that 107 billion was unaccounted for. You thereafter issued a white paper. How many of the indicted persons have been prosecuted and why are most of the indicted persons serving in your government ?.
3. As a follow up, you said if you recover the 107billion you will turn Benue into London. Records show you have earned close to 10 times that amount. Will you in good conscience say Benue is near London?. Or were you referring to the London in Adikpo where you recently commissioned a borehole?.
4. Most government businesses are now comatose while your private outfit has seen a phenomenal growth while you still serve as governor. How can you explain the phenomenal rise of your private business while public outfits are run down?.
5. Is it true that you compel government contractors to source thier materials from your own private business outfits?. Oracle business to be specific?.
6. Your predecessor claimed that he bequeathed a total monthly wage bill of M2.8 billion. In one of your reports, you said it is now 7.8 billion. This is against the background that no recruitments or promotions have taken place in the last 7 years. Rather some people retired and others died. There is also no minimum wage payment. Why this discrepancy in wage bill? Why are pensioners in this kind of condition under you?
7. How do you feel when you see commissioning of gigantic projects in poor states like Ebonyi, Nasarawa Jigawa and Gombe as well as bandit and insurgency ravaged states like Borno and Kaduna?. What excuse has benue got to still be where it is now?
8. Why is Benue never mentioned in the top agricultural bracket under your watch despite the glamourous title of “ food basket of the nation”? Are you aware that some people now satirically refer to it as the “ leaking basket of the nation”?.
9. There is this allegation that you craftically raise tension with screams of fulanization towards the month end to avoid wage responsibilities. As funny and ridiculous as this sounds, is it really true?.
10. Your predecessor built gigantic water treatment plants in makurdi with a capacity for 100,000 liters per day. Why is there no water in people’s homes 7years after he left?. I ask because of the states created in 1976, only makurdi has no water in home pipes. Do you have plans to give them water before you leave?
11. You recently amended your legacy project which is the anti grazing law. Congratulations. What other legacy do you want to leave behind?.
12. Finally, how do you want to be remembered?. I ask given the bitterness with which your name divides opinions in the state.
