My story continue from one scene to scene
...I had worked for three months at the filling station ,when a gang of robbers attacked us. it was a faithful Saturday afternoon,business was going fine as usual, when this black tinted car drove into the filing station,at first i thought it was someone who had come to refill, i went closer to the vehicle smiling and greeting respectfully ,when all of a sudden two guys came out from the owner's seat with sophisticated guns, they shot to the clouds, instigating fear in me and everyone there.,i had never heard a gun shot in such close range,it was a bitter experience,i was so scared.
They succeeded in going away with all we had made for the day and even our phones and other valuables ....
The experience left me in shock, mother was so worried and scared,you see why i never wanted you to work there, what would i have done with myself if anything had happened to you,mother was in tears,she made me promised i was going to quit the job,i could understand her point of view,i am an only child,I was and still all she got.indeed i stopped working at the filling station and was back to been jobless, i continued in my job hunting,i kept submitting CV's and kept going for interviews.....
On one of such job hunting, i met a man who used to frequent the filling station i worked before,he was one of those who liked me for being respectful,having great customer service and always smiling.he inquired why I was at the company and i explained the difficulties i had encountered trying to get a job and how i had to stop working at the filling station because of the robbery inccident.He told me that the owner of the company was a very good friend of his but that he was out of the country,never the less,he was going to speak to the manager currently in charge,we went back inside,and the man told her i was in need of a job if there was any space available .
Well sir,there are actually two vacate positions now,that of an assistant manager and a that of a cleaner who will double as the errand personnel,she went further to explain that for the Assistance Manager they preferred a male ,while for the cleaner they preferred a female.
Ma,that wont be a problem,i have someone,a male, that can fit into the assistant manager,and i wouldn't mind keeping the job of the cleaner and errand personnel for the time being....Excuse us,the man said to the manager and took me out for a word or two.i can talk to her for you,so they could employ you as an assistant manager,you can't possibly be a cleaner with that certificate of yours..he said..
Thank you very much sir,i really appreciate your kindness,i wouldn't want to push my luck too far,i would go with the cleaner job sir,the person i am bringing is actually my Fiance,hence its as good as me being the one in the office,we are one,i said.
Okay,if you say so,if you want to let go the job so your fiance can have it,no problem,that's a very big sacrifice,i hope he knows what you're worth,because only few women would do that in this generation,he said..
Oh sir indeed he holds me in very high esteem,and he loves me so much,if not for financial constrain and lack of employments,we would have long been married...i boosted,smiling like a new bride .
Very well then,if you say so,he said.it was Friday,the manager asked i resumed on Monday and come with Phil too for interviews. I was very happy,i thanked her and the nice man and happily went home.
Upon getting home,i narrated everything to mother,to my surprise she wasn't happy.why would you want Philip to be the assistant manager and you the clearner,i mean you had a chance,that nice man would have put in words for you,and you would have been taken,mama said angrily.but mama whether its Phil or i that is the assistant manager it is the same thing,i want Phil to have a jobbbbb,,,,,did i tell you he shouldn't have a job,mother interrupted me.you don't give what you don't have,how can you give him a job when you don't have one yourself,mother said....
Mother please calm down, phil is a nice person and you know that,i shall go to his place tomorrow and inform him,so he could get ready for monday,i said.
Okay my child,thank God you haven't informed him yet,please just think about it,mother Concluded.i promised her i would and went inside to have my shower....
